The history of BentIzol Ltd.

Bentonite clay extracted from the deposits owned by Bentonite Group of Companies, and bentonite-based products, such as bentonite powder, crushed bentonite clay and bentonite granules are well- known and widely used in the Russian market for many years.

Bentonite has high moisture-absorbing capacities, making it preferred solution for waterproofing in sandwich materials (Geosynthetic Clay Liners), that are used in construction and repair of hydraulic structures, oil & gas and mining sectors, industrial and civil construction, and for organizing of the environment protection objects.

The idea of creating innovative project to produce waterproofing materials based on natural bentonite clay from company’s own deposits came in year 2011..

01.02.2012. The shareholders of Bentonite Group of Companies decide to establish new entity of Bentizol Ltd. The name of the company speaks for itself – ‘Bent’ for bentonite, the natural clay material with unique qualities and ‘Izol’ for isolation.

March – November 2012. Plant engineering and construction, selection and purchase of production and laboratory equipment, hiring expert personnel.

November 2012 – February 2013. Supply and assembly of the production line based on equipment from South Korea, pre-commissioning.

March 2013.  The first produce.

April – June 2013. Research of the quality metrics of manufactured product in own laboratory, fine-tuning of quality control methods.

June 2013 – July 2013. Refinement of technology regimes and modernization of equipment by specialists form the UK and Poland to improve performance and productivity.

August 2013. Supplying the first pilot batch of Geosynthetic Clay Liners (GCLs) for waterproofing the sludge tanks at the oil deposits of OAO Surgutenftegaz.

September 2013 – May 2014. Completion of the laboratory fitting, workforce recruitment; approval of product portfolio with Bentizol line for environment protection and BENTEX for construction use. Transition to serial production.

September 2014. Formal opening of Bentizol Ltd. factory attended by company’s management and administration of Kurgan Region.

May 2015. Extension of warehousing facilities for products, organizing product storage and sales in Moscow region.

October 2015. Rebranding of construction products portfolio with MASTERBENT replacing BENTEX08.

December 2015. BentIzol Ltd. successfully passes certification of the commission of Construction Research Institute of Poland (Instytut Techniki Budowlanej); receives certificate of conformity. The certificate confirms the quality and safety of the products accordingly to regulations of the European Union.

March 2016. The Federal Commission of Technical Regulation and Metrology attests Bentizol Ltd. laboratory compliance with the norms and conditions required to measure quality of raw materials and manufactured product (GCLs) against the state requirements.

April 2016. Completion of research on components for GCLs for aggressive environments (saline brines, alkaline and acid solutions, various filtrates, etc.); the launch of production of the new product MASTERBENT P.

December 2016. Completion of audit a confirmation of accordance of quality management system to GOST Р ISO 9001:2015 requirements.

Year 2017

February - Establishing StroyGidroIzolyatsiya, the joint venture for waterproofing construction and assembling operations.

April - launch of the new bentizol.ru website; production of video demonstrating the key features of GLC’s such as water sealing, self-healing and frost resistance.

May - company’s experts are cooperating with the leading state and industry research centers and laboratories, take part in the environment conferences and deliver papers for the key publications.

June – the number of clients and partners has grown two-folds as compared to the beginning of the year.

Today company’s representative offices and dealers are working across all Russian regions. To continuously improve the product quality and technical support of customers, we have:

• engineering and technical department for customer support, which prepares project designs, technical and economic rationale for GCLs use and provides supervision of technology and installation of the materials;
• quality assurance department, which is providing incoming quality control, step-by-step operation checking and end product quality assessment, as well as conducting research on features of bentonite-based materials and developing new products.
